The Office of Councilwoman Odette Ramos has conducted an in-depth analysis regarding Baltimore's vacant and abandoned properties. The following illustrates the results of that analysis.
How we got the data
The Office of Finance supplied the addresses, open taxes, and open receivables for each of the vacant and abandoned properties in September 2023.

Our office then looked up each address on SDAT and recorded all available information. Once we collected all the necessary information, we conducted our analysis.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the data provided by the Office of Finance regarding vacant and abandoned lots, the analysis was only conducted on properties with abandoned houses.

Corp/Inc/LLC - 5,286 properties
Private, non-LLC - 6,613 properties
Of the 5,286 properties owned by corporations, incorporated entities, and LLC's, 4,090 have different registered names.
Maryland is a single LLC state which means that a single individual could have multiple LLC's registered to them at the same time. Therefore, DHCD has indicated that to tell how many LLC's are owned by the same individuals/entities, they count the addresses.
Based on DHCD's method to count LLC owners, there are 2,862 different owners.
